Surviving Money and the Financial System

Surviving Money Systems

“Surviving Money and the Financial System – and What Women can do about it”  was a series of three-part video presentation prepared specially for the AWID conference in Istanbul in April 2012 on the demystification of money and banking and how they really operate. It was made for an in-depth economic session on how money and financial systems operate and impact on women of limited means; how the system serves economic purpose, but also deceives and impoverishes through abuse. It interactively provided what women need to know and do to counter the system and survive.

I produced this audio-visual presentation in film format and co-presented with Najma Sadeque at the four-day international AWID Forum on April 19th, 2012 and it is now featured on the AWID’s Transforming Economic Power to Advance Women’s Rights and Justice website. http://www.forum.awid.org/forum12/

“Surviving Money and the Financial System – and What Women can do about it is on alternative money and trading systems in difficult financial times (such as we have been experiencing the past several years), and what women could do to help themselves, especially at the local and grassroots level – (partly based on Najma Sadeque’s Shirkat Gah book ‘Financial Terrorism’).

The presentation was in line with this year’s AWID (Association of Women’s Rights in Development) theme which was Transforming Economic Power to Advance Women’s Rights and Justice.
